FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What do consultations cost?
Bridal consultations are R500 for an hour long meeting with the designer. During this consult you will be able to try on the dresses in studio, discuss your ideas, fabrics and details while Sadie sketches these up for you and gives you a rough indication of price. You will receive an exact quote after your consultation. Consultations for evening wear are R300.
Where are you based?
Our studio is in Obsevatory, Cape Town, South Africa.
Can I get a dress made by the Atelier if I live overseas or in another province?
Of course! We are very experienced in working with brides from out of town and have created many bridal gowns with no fittings at all! Provided we are able to get you accurate measurements we are confident that we will be able to deliver a perfectly fitted garment.
What should I bring to my consultation?
Should you have ideas and reference pictures, please send these to before your consult so that we have time to look at these before you arrive. Should you wish to try on our dresses in studio which you are welcome to do, please wear nude underwear and bring a pair of heels. We limit the amount of people who can accompany our brides to consultations to 2 special and supportive people. Too many opinions can cloud your judgement and make for a stressful experience.
What does a bespoke gown cost?
Bespoke gowns range hugely in price as the cost is calculated on the amount of hours that go into creating them. These gowns are made from scratch for each individual bride; right from the pattern which is made exactly to your measurements, to the design and embellishment. Each bespoke gown is totally different from the last and takes hundreds of hours to construct, so quotes are only given after our first consultation.
What if I don't want to go the custom route?
Having a a bespoke gown made can be quite daunting! If it is not for you we create annual bridal gown ranges that can be fitted at our studio or at Fate & Love Bridal in Woodstock, Cape Town. These are gowns are made up in your size and take 4 - 5 months to complete. These gowns range in price from R14 000 - R32 000.
How long in advance should I get in touch about getting my wedding gown made?
We need a minimum of 4 months to complete a custom or ready to wear gown. Ready to wear gowns have a shorter production time of 4 - 5 months, while we prefer to take 6 - 9 months to allow for the detail that goes into creating our bespoke gowns and often work with our brides for up to a year before their wedding day.
What if my wedding is sooner?
Should your wedding be 4 months or less away, please enquire with us anyway. If the studio can accommodate you we will endeavor to do so. However this will incur a rush fee of 15% of the gown price.
Do you do bridesmaids and mother or the bride/groom outfits?
We usually do not do bridesmaid or mother of the bride outfits, but we do take on occasional projects of this nature. We have a small range of bridesmaid style dresses that can be made to your bridal party's measurements in the fabric of your choice.
